SUMMARY:FSN - Dusty Rhodes and the Ramblers Band
DESCRIPTION:Friday Social Night\n \n Days\n :\n Hours\n :\n Minutes\n :\n Seconds\n	$5 Cover at the Door\n \nFeaturing Dusty Rhodes and the Ramblers Band\nFriday Social Night – Live Music\n     June 12\, 2026 \n    7:00pm \n   SYCA – Union B\n \n $5 Cover at the Door \n \n \n Meet the Band\n \nScheduled to Appear: \nTim Peterson\, Brian Brill\, Marjorie Shelito\, Ray Swinsick\, Pete Fair & Delbert Walling\nDusty Rhodes and the Ramblers is a band that was formed by merging together three different successful groups. Four of the six have been friends and bandmates since the early 80’s. The members have combined forces\, with over 200 years of professional musical experience\, to produce a series of themed shows to highlight the best music from the past six decades. The Ramblers (there is no Dusty!) are well-versed in many styles including jazz\, folk\, pop\, classical\, rock\, and blues\, and they know how to entertain an audience. \nThe show for 2026 is titled ‘The Softer Side of the 70s – A Folk-Rock Tribute\,’ and through-out the three hour concert the band performs hit songs that grew out of the folk music craze of the sixties and developed into the soft rock of the seventies\, combining folk with rock\, country\, and blues styles. This blended style further grew into the Roots/Americana music of the nineties. \nWith tight arrangements by Tim Peterson\, spot-on vocals by Marjorie Shelito\, rock-solid rhythms laid down by Ray Swinsick\, Pete Fair’s infectious bass lines\, and the soaring solo virtuosity of keyboardist Brian Brill and lead guitarist Delbert Walling\, the Ramblers will re-mind you why you loved the music of the 70s so much. Sing along\, smile\, tap the table\, or get up and dance – join us in celebrating the great music of the 1970s! \n\nCash Bar and Refreshments Available

Buzzards Gotta Eat\, Same as Worms.”\nThe Outlaw Josey Wales\nA Gritty Tale of Vengeance\, Redemption\, and the Relentless Spirit of the American West \nClint Eastwood directs and stars in one of the most iconic Westerns of all time—The Outlaw Josey Wales. Set in the chaotic aftermath of the American Civil War\, the film follows Josey Wales\, a Missouri farmer whose life is shattered when Union raiders kill his family. Driven by grief and vengeance\, Josey joins a Confederate guerrilla unit—but when the war ends\, he refuses to surrender and becomes a marked man\, branded an outlaw by a country eager to forget its sins. \nAs Josey flees across the untamed West\, he picks up a ragtag band of outcasts and misfits: a feisty Cherokee warrior\, a wisecracking old woman\, a young Navajo girl\, and a genteel pioneer woman searching for peace. Together\, they form an unlikely family\, standing against bounty hunters\, corrupt soldiers\, and their own haunted pasts. \nWith unforgettable lines\, stunning cinematography\, and a deeply human story of survival and honor\, The Outlaw Josey Wales blends Eastwood’s raw charisma with an unflinching look at the price of war and the resilience of the human spirit. \n“A masterwork of the Western genre… powerful\, poetic\, and deeply personal.”– The New York Times \nFilm Details\n\n\nDirected by: Clint Eastwood \n\n\nStarring: Clint Eastwood\, Chief Dan George\, Sondra Locke\, Bill McKinney \n\n\nReleased: 1976 \n\n\nGenre: Western / Drama \n\n\nRuntime: 135 minutes \n\n\nRide with Josey. SUMMARY:Planet of the Apes (1968)
DESCRIPTION:Tickets $4\nDays\n:\nHours\n:\nMinutes\n:\nSeconds\nTICKETS\n \n1968\nPlanet of The Apes\nFebruary 27\, 2025 \n7:00pm \nSturges-Young Center for the Arts \nMain Stage/Theatre \n \nDescription\nAdditional Information\nPlanet of the Apes is an American science fiction media franchise consisting of films\, books\, television series\, comics\, and other media about a post-apocalyptic world in which humans and intelligent apes clash for control.[1] The franchise started with French author Pierre Boulle‘s 1963 novel La Planète des singes\, translated into English as Planet of the Apes or Monkey Planet. Its 1968 film adaptation\, Planet of the Apes\, was a critical and commercial hit\, initiating a series of sequels\, tie-ins\, and derivative works. Arthur P. Jacobs produced the first five Apes films through APJAC Productions for distributor 20th Century Fox; following his death in 1973\, Fox controlled the franchise. \nFour sequels followed the original film from 1970 to 1973: Beneath the Planet of the Apes\, Escape from the Planet of the Apes\, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes\, and Battle for the Planet of the Apes. They did not approach the critical acclaim of the original\, but were commercially successful\, spawning a live-action television series in 1974 and an animated series in 1975. Plans for a film remake stalled in “development hell” for over 10 years before the 2001 release of Planet of the Apes\, directed by Tim Burton. A reboot film series commenced in 2011 with Rise of the Planet of the Apes\, which was followed by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 2014 and War for the Planet of the Apes in 2017. In 2019\, Disney\, having acquired 20th Century Fox\, announced further sequels to the 2011 reboot series are in production\, with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes released in 2024. Franchise tie-ins include books\, comics\, video games and toys. \nThe series began with French author Pierre Boulle‘s 1963 novel La Planète des singes. Boulle wrote the novel in six months after the “humanlike expressions” of gorillas at the zoo inspired him to contemplate the relationship between man and ape. La Planète des singes was heavily influenced by 18th- and 19th-century fantastical travel narratives\, especially Jonathan Swift‘s satirical Gulliver’s Travels. It is one of several of Boulle’s works to use science fiction tropes and plot devices to comment on the failings of human nature and mankind’s overreliance on technology\, though Boulle rejected the science fiction label\, instead terming his genre “social fantasy”.[3] \nThe novel is a satire that follows French journalist Ulysse Mérou\, who participates in a voyage to a distant planet where speechless\, animalistic humans are hunted and enslaved by an advanced society of apes. The ape species are sorted into classes: the gorillas are police officers\, the chimpanzees are scientists\, and the orangutans are politicians. Eventually\, Mérou discovers that humans once dominated the planet until their complacency allowed the more industrious apes to overthrow them. The story’s central message is that human intelligence is not a fixed quality and could atrophy if taken for granted.[3][4] Boulle considered the novel one of his minor works\, though it proved to be a bestseller. British author Xan Fielding translated it into English; it was published in the United Kingdom as Monkey Planet and in the United States as Planet of the Apes.[5]

The film tells the story of truck driver Jack Burton (Russell)\, who helps his friend Wang Chi (Dun) rescue Wang’s green-eyed fiancée from bandits in San Francisco’s Chinatown. They go into the mysterious underworld beneath Chinatown\, where they face an ancient sorcerer named David Lo Pan (Hong)\, who requires a woman with green eyes to marry him in order to be released from a centuries-old curse.[4] \nAlthough the original screenplay by first-time screenwriters Gary Goldman and David Z. Weinstein was envisioned as a Western set in the 1880s\, screenwriter W. D. Richter was hired to rewrite the script extensively and modernize it. The studio hired Carpenter to direct the film and rushed Big Trouble in Little China into production so that it would be released before a similarly themed Eddie Murphy film\, The Golden Child\, which was slated to come out around the same time. The project fulfilled Carpenter’s long-standing desire to make a martial arts film. \nDespite receiving generally positive reviews\, the film was a commercial failure\, grossing $11.1 million in North America\, below its estimated $19 to $25 million budget. This left Carpenter disillusioned with Hollywood and influenced his decision to return to independent filmmaking. In later years\, the film gained a steady audience on home video\, and has become a cult classic. \nTruck driver Jack Burton wins a bet with his friend Wang Chi. To make sure he follows through on payment\, Jack accompanies him to the airport to pick up Wang’s Chinese fiancée Miao Yin\, where a Chinese-American street gang\, the Lords of Death\, tries to kidnap another Chinese girl. She is being met by her friend Gracie Law. After Jack intervenes\, they take Miao Yin instead. \nJack and Wang track the Lords of Death to Chinatown\, where they find a funeral procession that erupts into a battle between the Chang Sing and Wing Kong\, two ancient Chinese warrior societies. When “The Three Storms” – Thunder\, Rain\, and Lightning\, warriors with weather-themed powers – appear\, slaughtering the Chang Sing\, Jack attempts to gun his big-rig through the crowd\, but runs over David Lo Pan\, a man directing the Three Storms. Horrified\, Jack exits his truck\, but finds Lo Pan unhurt and glowing with magic. Wang hurriedly guides Jack through the alleys; they escape\, but Jack’s truck is stolen. \nFilm Information\n\n\n\nDirected by\nJohn Carpenter\n\n\nWritten by\n\n\nGary Goldman\nDavid Z. SUMMARY:Gone with the Wind (1939)
DESCRIPTION:Gone with the Wind ( 1939)\nJanuary 12\, 2025 \n2:30pm \nSturges-Young Center for the Arts \nMain Stage/Theatre \n \nTickets $4\nDays\n:\nHours\n:\nMinutes\n:\nSeconds\nTICKETS \nDescription\nPlot\nGone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic historical romance film adapted from the 1936 novel by Margaret Mitchell. The film was produced by David O. Selznick of Selznick International Pictures and directed by Victor Fleming. Set in the American South against the backdrop of the Civil War and the Reconstruction era\, the film tells the story of Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh)\, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner\, following her romantic pursuit of Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard)\, who is married to his cousin\, Melanie Hamilton (Olivia de Havilland)\, and her subsequent marriage to Rhett Butler (Clark Gable). \nThe film had a troubled production. The start of filming was delayed for two years until January 1939 because Selznick was determined to secure Gable for the role of Rhett\, and concluded in July. The role of Scarlett was challenging to cast\, and 1\,400 unknown women were interviewed for the part. Sidney Howard‘s original screenplay underwent many revisions by several writers to reduce it to a suitable length. The original director\, George Cukor\, was fired shortly after filming began and was replaced by Fleming\, who in turn was briefly replaced by Sam Wood while taking some time off due to exhaustion. Post-production concluded in November 1939\, just a month before its premiere. \nIn 1861\, on the eve of the American Civil War\, Scarlett O’Hara lives at Tara\, her family’s cotton plantation in Georgia\, with her parents\, two sisters\, and their many black slaves. Scarlett is deeply attracted to Ashley Wilkes and learns he is to be married to his cousin\, Melanie Hamilton. At an engagement party the next day at Ashley’s home\, Twelve Oaks\, a nearby plantation\, Scarlett makes an advance on Ashley but is rebuffed; however\, she catches the attention of another guest\, Rhett Butler. The party is disrupted by news of President Lincoln’s call for volunteers to fight the South\, and the Southern men rush to enlist. Scarlett marries Melanie’s younger brother\, Charles\, to arouse jealousy in Ashley before he leaves to fight. Following Charles’s death while serving in the Confederate States Army\, Scarlett’s mother sends her to the Hamilton home in Atlanta. She creates a scene by attending a charity bazaar in mourning attire and waltzing with Rhett\, now a blockade runner for the Confederacy. \nFilm Information\n\n\n\nDirected by\nVictor Fleming\n\n\nScreenplay by\nSidney Howard\n\n\nBased on\nGone with the Wind\nby Margaret Mitchell\n\n\nProduced by\nDavid O.
